MEMORIAL BOX
This memorial box was made for some great clients to hold important mementos of their late dog. Having lost my own beloved dogs in the past, I wanted to make something special and with enough character to honor its purpose.
THE DESIGN
The box itself is made of heavily figured Hawaiian Koa wood with a trapped and chamfered Claro Walnut top. It is fully dovetailed in construction with an interior walnut liner.
THE HARDWARE
The small brass box hinges and a half mortise box lock are from Whitechapel, makers of fine and historical hardware.
THE FINISH
The box is finished with shellac on the interior and a shop made oil varnish blend, with a wax topcoat on the exterior.
